AFE is an organization that acts as spokesperson of its associated foundations and promotes the improvement of their social management, favoring articulation, cooperation, social innovation and knowledge exchange among the associates; always acting with transparency to achieve a greater impact in their interventions and to contribute to equity and sustainable social development in Colombia.

AFE is recognized for its measurable and high impact contribution to the fulfillment of countries’ social sustainable transformation goals, through the articulation between its associated foundations and with other social actors, as well as for its leadership to promote and strengthen social sustainable intervention best practices.
Our History
As the new millennium started, corporate social responsibility was booming all over the world. In Colombia corporate foundations began to multiply, aimimg to join to the commitment of the family foundations existing since the mid-twentieth century. Half of the corporate foundations were created between 2000 and 2010.
In this decade, Colombia was recovering from the deepest recession of its history, and the country was suffering from a a long term conflict that reached a menacing climax of violence and cruelty.
Towards the first years of this new century, a group of foundations began to look how to face the crisis, and went together with some voices that investigated the role of the companies and their foundations to respond to the difficult situation.
The initiatives began to take place and led to the creation on March 14, 2008, of what we know today as the Association of Family and Corporate Foundations- AFE Colombia.
Nowadays, a significant number of outstanding family and business foundations have joined, acting decisively with the communities and working with a long-term vision in different spheres of the national territory.
More than 70 foundations are members of AFE, ratifying their commitment to Colombian society to advance in our joint effort to find collective solutions to inequality and exclusion.
